History
The history of Hotel Grand Marina begins with a storehouse built on
Katajanokka Island in 1913-1929. The pioneering steel reinforced
concrete pillar structure was designed by architect Selim A. Lindqvist,
while Lars Sonck designed the massive late Art Nouveau exterior.
In 1986 Gullichsen-Kairamo-Vormala,
Architects started to redesign the old storehouse into a high-class,
functional and distinctive hotel. At the same time it was decided to
turn the neighboring warehouse into an extensive conference and congress
center. The first great event hosted was the 1992 CSCE follow-up
meeting.
